Bedu was a Corti investigator who owned and piloted the starship Negotiable Curiosity. Bedu and his crew Hzzkvk, a Vzk'tk, and Mwrmwrwk, a Kwmbwrw, were paid (likely by Hierarchy agents) to locate and retrieve Kirk and Vedreg from their lifepod after the Sanctuary was destroyed by a Hierarchy cruiser.
Bedu was captured on Perfection by an SOR team sent to retrieve the Negotiable Curiosity and occupants. During the trip from Perfection to Cimbrean, he was afforded the opportunity to study the Humans, and intuited many of the underlying facts of DEEP RELIC before being released. He felt no ill will toward the Humans for his capture, seeing it as an opportunity to study them in close proximity.
After his release, and following the Hunter attack on Perfection, he was contacted by Vakno and contracted to join with her in learning who might have sold Perfection out to the Hunters, as the attack there was too perfectly timed to take advantage of the disabled defense fleet. After roughly 2 years of investigation, Bedu had removed his cybernetic implants, contacted Vakno, and enlisted her aid on his ship in continuing the investigation together. By this point he had pieced together much of the state of things so far as the Hierarchy was concerned, and eventually they made their way to Aru to investigate the decline of the OmoAru.
It was here that the two Corti accessed a hidden area of a medical center where Zane Reid was, having been biodroned by the Hierarchy, lying in wait for them. Bedu was killed by gunshot to the head which prompted the hasty retreat by Vakno and Dog Wagner who had found them there. Vakno later lamented Bedus death, not necessarily for any fondness for him, but she did concede that he had a sharp wit that she would miss.
